Eyebrow Transplants

5 Reasons Why to Get Eyebrow Transplants

Similar to fashion, eyebrow styles change every so often. One decade, thin eyebrows may be in, while in another decade, thick eyebrows may be the way to go. However, if you have thinning or balding eyebrows, you may find yourself drawing them on so they look like fake eyebrows.

Fortunately, there are ways for you to combat hair loss in your eyebrows so they look natural again, and the best way is through an eyebrow transplant. If you are wondering why you should get an eyebrow transplant, here are five good reasons:

  1. Fix the Damage Caused by Genetics or Too Much Plucking – If you have lost eyebrow density due to genetics or from plucking your eyebrows too much when you were younger, you may be stuck with permanent eyebrow hair loss. No matter what the reason is behind your eyebrow hair loss, you can restore them through an eyebrow transplant, and once again, have thick, full eyebrows.
  2. Restore Your Confidence The eyebrows frame your face, help enhance expressions, and make your face more appealing. While makeup may be able to help restore your eyebrows temporarily, it does not give you perfect results. Most eyebrows drawn on with makeup are easily recognizable as being false. This is also not a permanent solution to hair loss in the eyebrows, and constantly applying makeup to your eyebrows can be tedious. An eyebrow transplant will take away this issue. You will have permanently beautiful eyebrows day and night without the need of applying makeup to shape or darken them.
  3. Permanent and Natural Results One of the best reasons to get an eyebrow transplant is the fact that you get permanent results. Unlike eyebrow tinting or makeup, you will not need to get repeat treatments or apply makeup to have youthful-looking eyebrows. Your eyebrows will be 100% natural. You will not have any scarring or unnatural coloring on your skin. This gives you the most authentic results possible.
  4. Quick Recovery Eyebrow transplants are quick and easy procedures. A typical procedure takes 3 to 4 hours to complete and involves the use of a numbing agent. You will be comfortable and awake throughout the procedure. You will also be able to return home immediately following your procedure. Recovery takes about a week while your skin heals. Like with any hair transplant procedure, you will see results several weeks after your eyebrow transplant.
  5. Modern Eyebrow Restoration Surgical Techniques – One of the reasons why you should get an eyebrow transplant by a medical doctor is their unparalleled knowledge and expertise. Eyebrows have to be crafted in a particular shape and size to look appealing. A skilled hair-restoration physician understands this, and the doctor will craft your eyebrows to the most flattering shape and size according to your face and preference. You will get a customized eyebrow design and procedure to ensure that you love your eyebrows again.

Stem Cell & PRP Therapies for Hair Loss

If you’re suffering from hair loss and hair transplant surgery is not an option for you, don’t lose hope – there are a variety of other ways you can restore your lost hair. Two excellent methods are stem cell therapy and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. These treatments boost natural hair growth using the body’s natural mechanisms. Let’s take a look at what stem cell therapy and PRP therapy are, how they are performed, and what you should expect as results.

Stem Cell Therapy

Stem cells are your body’s building blocks. These cells are highly unique because they have the ability to transform into different types of cells that the body needs. Most of the cells in your body are not crafted this way. For example, a heart cell cannot become a liver cell, and a white blood cell cannot become a skin cell. However, stem cells have the ability to change. This makes them very valuable when it comes to replacing cells that the body needs.

For the purposes of hair loss treatment, stem cells can reverse the shrinkage of hair follicles, which are a cause of hair loss. To perform stem cell therapy for hair loss, your physician will take stem cells from your fat tissue, create a solution, and inject it into the scalp. The stem cells will work their magic by reversing the shrinking hair follicles, thus giving the scalp the ability to regrow hair and stop further hair loss.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

PRP therapy involves using the regenerative power of platelets (found in your blood) to stop hair loss and stimulate hair growth. Platelets are an excellent source of proteins called growth factors and cytokines, which promote healing and hair growth.

To perform this therapy, your doctor will extract a small amount of blood from you and use a centrifuge machine to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the blood’s content. The highly concentrated plasma will then be injected into areas of your scalp that are lacking hair growth. Once in the scalp, the platelets will trigger healing and the production of healthy tissue, which will help with hair growth.

Stem Cell + PRP Treatment

While both stem cell therapy and PRP therapy are highly effective in treating hair loss, they are even more effective when used simultaneously. To perform a combined stem cell and PRP treatment, your doctor will extract both stem cells and platelet-rich plasma from your body, as described above. During treatment, your doctor will inject both of them into the scalp using multiple injections. The stem cells and PRP will work together to not only stop hair loss but also bolster hair growth. The treatment can be repeated every 3 to 6 months, depending on your doctor’s recommendation.

Vitamins that Help with Hair Loss

Hair loss is a universal problem shared by both men and women. Hair loss can negatively impact your confidence and can make you look and feel older and less attractive – but the good news is that there is treatment available to combat the problem and help you get your hair back.

Treatment will be based on the underlying cause of your hair loss. You may be losing your hair due to genetics, hormonal changes, psychological distress, medical conditions, or medications.

There are many treatments available that can help you combat and possibly even reverse your hair loss. Let’s talk about one of those noninvasive and holistic treatments, which is vitamin therapy.

Vitamins that Can Fight Against Hair Loss

There are a number of vitamins that can help with hair loss. Here are some of the best vitamins that can help enhance your hair loss treatment:

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is known to help foster and reinforce cell growth, and this works especially for hair follicles. Also called retinol, vitamin A is also important with vision and immunity. Good sources of vitamin A are eggs, carrots, fortified cereal, broccoli, and spinach.

This vitamin can help your hair become stronger as it grows. It helps skin glands make an oily substance called sebum, which aids in moisturization of the scalp and in keeping the cells supple.

The B-vitamins play an important role in hair growth, because they help in creating red blood cells that carry oxygen and nutrients to the scalp. They include:

  • Vitamin B-1 – thiamine
  • Vitamin B-2 – riboflavin
  • Vitamin B-3 – niacin
  • Vitamin B-5 – pantothenic acid
  • Vitamin B-6 – pyridoxine
  • Vitamin B-7 – biotin
  • Vitamin B-9 – folate/folic acid
  • Vitamin B-12 – cobalamin

All of these B-vitamins help the body to convert carbohydrates from food into glucose for energy. They help the body utilize both fats and proteins efficiently, and proteins are particularly important in hair growth. Talk to your hair restoration doctor about which B-vitamins and other supplements you should take, and how often.

Vitamin C

Free radicals can damage cells and block hair growth, causing your hair to fall out. You can combat this by eating foods rich in vitamin C, such as strawberries, cantaloupe, red/green/yellow peppers, and kiwi. Vitamin C helps produce collagen that aids in skin health and, therefore, hair follicle health.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D has been shown to help in creating new follicles where new hair can grow. It aids in hair production and combats hair deficiencies.

Which Vitamins Should I Take?

Before beginning to take any vitamins or supplements, always consult with a hair specialist. Your specific hair loss issue may or may not be affected by specific medications or supplements, because a treatment plan that works for one individual doesn’t mean it will for another.

A hair restoration doctor will understand your hair loss causes and will create a customized plan to tackle the problem. The doctor will also know which vitamins you should stay away from, such as if you have an autoimmune condition you probably shouldn’t take vitamin B-6 supplements.

women hair loss

Treatments for Women’s Hair Loss

Hair loss is not a respecter of gender – it affects women as well as men. A woman might reach her forties before thinning becomes noticeable, but it’s more common than you may realize.

There are treatments available for both women and men who are experiencing hair loss. Let’s talk about what’s involved and what you can do about it.

Ways to Treat Hair Loss in Women

Though some hair loss is natural, losing a significant or sudden amount of hair can be a sign of an underlying condition. A hair restoration physician will diagnose your condition, determine the cause behind your hair loss, and prescribe treatment that will work for you.

There are both surgical and nonsurgical options to help restore your hair and give you your confidence back. Hair transplant surgery involves extracting healthy hair follicles from your scalp or another area of your body that has plenty of hair. Once the follicles are excised, they are then implanted into the thinning or balding area for regrowth.

The main types of hair restoration surgery are the FUE and FUT methods:

  • FUE (follicular unit excision) is when individual follicles from a donor area – usually the back of the head, near your neck – are removed and transplanted into the area of the scalp where the hair is thin. It is a precise and intricate process, as the follicles are individually removed and transplanted.
  • FUT (follicular unit transplant) is similar to FUE, except the hair is transplanted from a long strip of hair donated from the lower back of the scalp. The strip is then cut into tiny grafts, which are implanted into the thinning or balding area. This is usually cheaper and takes less time than the FUE method, but the area where the strip of skin and follicles were removed tends to be more painful during the healing phase.

There are also nonsurgical options, including:

  • ACell + PRP therapy, which is where the hair restoration doctor will inject your scalp with this special treatment to help foster hair regrowth. ACell is a matrix that is derived from animal tissue cells, and PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is taken from your own blood sample for its healing properties.
  • PRP therapy, which is a hair-loss treatment to help stop early hair loss from developing further. It is also used to help stimulate dormant hair follicles so they’ll start growing hair again.
  • Low-level laser therapy (LLLT), which is a device you wear underneath your favorite hat for about 20 minutes at a time, just three times per day. The lasers stimulate the hair follicles in people whose hair is becoming too thin and fragile.

Your hair doctor will determine why it is occurring in order to establish a successful treatment that will work for you.
