How to Get the Hair You’ve Always Wanted

Hair loss is a common problem among men and women alike, and dealing with it can be exasperating. Hair loss can gnaw away at a person’s self-esteem and sense of self-worth.

That’s where a hair doctor comes in to save the day. A hair doctor offers a variety of hair replacement treatment options to help you solve your problem.

Let’s explore the different treatment options we offer here at Darling Hair Restorations and how our very own hair doctor Dr. Scott Darling can help you conquer hair loss and achieve the hair you’ve always wanted.

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)

Follicular unit transplantation is a procedure in which Dr. Darling will surgically obtain a strip of skin (graft) and tissue from the back or sides of your scalp then extract the individual hair follicles.

Hair doctors have been performing FUT for over 50 years. The method yields high success, but it has its risks, so check with Dr. Darling to see if you are a candidate for FUT.

Follicular Unit Excision (FUE) Hair Transplant

Also referred to as follicular unit extraction, FUE is a hair transplant procedure in which Dr. Darling will harvest small follicular units from a donor site (typically the back or sides of your scalp) and use them for transplantation.

You do not have to worry about it taking too long to heal. The donor site usually recovers after a couple of days.

FUE remains a popular choice for most people, as it produces permanent and natural-looking results—not the “hair plug” look, wherein the sections of hair or skin don’t match their surrounding areas. FUE also maintains a much higher success rate across the board compared to other hair restoration techniques. Many reputable surgeons attest to FUE hair restoration success rates of more than 90 percent.

Crown Hair Transplant

Next on the list is hair transplant surgery that restores hair in the patient’s crown region. The crown or vertex is the topmost part of the scalp where hair loss commonly occurs.

Consult Dr. Darling if you are a candidate for a crown hair transplant. The treatment duration depends on your condition, and you might have to attend two sessions for the procedure.

Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP)

We have discussed three surgical hair treatments so far. But did you know that there are nonsurgical treatments you can try out as well here at Darling Hair Restoration?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) hair treatment helps slow down hair loss and even promotes hair growth. The treatment involves drawing your own blood and then processing it in a centrifuge to separate the components.

In a PRP treatment procedure, Dr. Darling will inject the concentration into specific areas of your scalp. This process will only take approximately 10 minutes, and you can immediately go back to your daily activities. PRP therapy has been proven safe—and won’t leave you prone to inflammation and irritation.

For best results, it is highly recommended that you see Dr. Darling three to four times a year to get PRP hair treatment.
